New Jersey Unemployment Worse than National Average By daniel  |  Dated: 03-17-2010
newjerseyflag_160x120Having lost 9,100 jobs across the state in the month of January, New Jersey’s 9.9% unemployment rate continues to exceed the national average.

Since the beginning of the economic recession in December of 2007, 5.6% of the states total workforce now finds themselves jobless.

The range of losses in the private sector are distributed across multiple industries, including services, manufacturing, and construction.

The public sector on the other hand has seen an increase, with 7,000 more jobs for the period from December 2008 to December 2009.

January showed an increase in overall hours worked, but a decrease of $3.59 for average weekly earnings.

I like the volume of jobs on EmploymentCrossing. The quality of jobs is also good. Plus, they get refreshed very often. Great work!
