Washington State University to Cut 370 Jobs

Washington State University will cut 370 jobs and several academic programs over the next two years, due to state budget cuts.The budget passed last week, but not yet signed by Governor Chris Gregoire, cut 21.5% from funding for four-year universities.
Tuition for resident undergraduates will rise by $870 for 2009-10, from $6,218 to $7,088. Tuition is expected to increase another $1,000 in 2010-11.
Washington State University is a public research university in Pullman, Washington. WSU is the state’s largest land-grant university, and offers more than 200 fields of study.
The flagship campus in Pullman is located on the eastern border of the state. There are regional campuses in Vancouver, Spokane, and the Tri-Cities.
