Study Says People Prefer More Money Over Better Working Conditions By EmploymentCrossing  |  Dated: 08-29-2011

A study conducted by economists at Cornell University shows that a greater number of people preferred being better remunerated, albeit with taxing work hours, to lower paying jobs with convenient hours. The results are not in keeping with the forceful views of eminent economist, Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz.

The findings clearly tilt the balance in favor of the prevalent belief that more the money, higher the satisfaction compared to the other widespread notion that more money brings in more problems too. Though there is a thin line between people’s satisfaction and happiness; in its political interpretation, governments would do well to frame policies that enhance the general level of satisfaction of their people.
