Provide technical capabilities to assess foreign country capacity and capability to detect, diagnose, and report outbreaks of pathogens and diseases of security concern. Perform research, conduct interviews related to, and assessments of animal health systems or programs, including medical practice and diagnosis of dangerous infectious disease, veterinary infrastructure, human resources, and related laws and regulations, and write reports on the outcomes of research and assessments of disease surveillance programs and systems, including recommendations. Interface with client science, technical, and program management personnel and work collaboratively with a team of technical subject matters experts, including science, disease surveillance, biosafety and biosecurity, and project management specialists.
-Experience with working in a veterinary medicine or public health environment
-Knowledge of veterinary public health
-Ability to work on a team
-Ability to travel internationally up to 20% of the time
-Ability to obtain a security clearance
-PhD degree in Veterinary Medicine
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience with active surveillance in a veterinary medicine environment or active vector surveillance program, international work, or consulting
-Knowledge of lead international animal organization missions and disease reporting requirements
-Knowledge of the US Select Agent Program preferred
-Ability to analyze complex subject matter
-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
-PhD degree in Epidemiology or a related field
