VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Center

is seeking a board certified or residency trained Cardiologist

to join our multi-disciplinary Specialty practice in beautiful Fishers, Indiana—located just outside of Indianapolis.

The successful candidate will be a personable team player who is friendly, approachable, and has a client-centric approach to specialty care.

Currently we do not have a Cardiologist on our team, so this is an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated doctor to build a much-needed service and be the premier center in this area. Our practice enjoys a strong referral base to help jump start this endeavor, plus you’ll be supported by specialists in Internal Medicine, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Surgery (orthopedic & soft tissue), and Physical Rehabilitation.

Our 30,000 sq. ft. facility is fully equipped with a 1.5 Tesla MRI, Helical CT, linear accelerator, fluoroscopy, two digital radiology rooms, two GE ultrasound units, full endoscopy equipment, hyperbaric oxygen chamber and a neurological electrodiagnostic machine—along with a full Rehabilitation service with two underwater treadmills.

The hospital has 16 exam rooms, so our new Cardiologist would have at least one dedicated exam room. There is also a dedicated room for Cardiology to perform echocardiograms, ECG and Cardiology procedures.

Fishers is located in Hamilton County, Indiana, which boasts several cities that are ranked among the Best Places To Live, including nearby Carmel, which was voted Number One by CNN Money Magazine in 2012!

The region has several blue ribbon schools, plus a thriving performing arts area. For your recreational needs there is the Monon Trail, which runs for 15 miles from Hamilton County into Indianapolis. While Peyton Manning may have left Indianapolis, the Colts are still the heart of the city. And don’t forget our Pacers, who have made the NBA playoffs for the past couple of years!

Advanced Veterinary Care Center is part of VCA’s Specialty network consisting of 80 hospitals offering specialty care, and a brain trust of more than 400 boarded Specialists representing almost every discipline in small animal medicine.

The Specialist in Veterinary Cardiology

—under the guidance of the Medical Director and with the support of the Regional Medical Director—carries out VCA’s promise to our clients: making their pet’s health our top priority and excellent service our goal. The Cardiologist educates referring veterinarians on, advocates for, and strives to deliver the highest quality medical and surgical diagnostics, treatment, and preventative care to companion animals.

Skills and Qualifications

A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university.

Residency training with board eligibility or certification in Veterinary Internal Medicine/Cardiology.

Ability to become licensed to practice in the state of Indiana.

Professional comportment and appearance, with excellent interpersonal skills and a positive, friendly attitude.

Job Responsibilities

Establish a good rapport with referring veterinarians, including: timely professional and respectful communication; assistance in their professional growth and education through recommendations and interaction on referred and shared cases; ongoing development of a positive and professional working relationship; participation in Continuing Education involving the local referral community.

Assist in the development and training of the paraprofessional team to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service.

Assist with marketing the services of the specialty practice through a variety of outreach programs, some of which include: making hospital visits to referring veterinarians, assisting with local CE meetings, answering all calls from referring veterinarians promptly, helping with production of hospital newsletters and case reports.

Assist with the training of interns and residents, under the guidance of the Medical Director.

Positively represent the hospital and VCA in the professional community and to the general public.

VCA rewards its team members with a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including:

Medical, Dental and Vision Coverage

Life and Long-Term Disability Insurance

401(k) retirement savings plan
