EMPLOYERS, POST JOBS FOR FREE

The Veterinary Job-Seeker Bill of Rights

You have the right to a pro-job-seeker employment board.

Unlike virtually every other job board, VeterinaryCrossing is not supported by revenue from employers or recruiters. VeterinaryCrossing differs immensely from other job boards. The nominal monthly fee we charge goes toward supporting a multimillion-dollar research effort that has changed the way people search for jobs. Our community of exclusive users benefits from a research tool that is so far beyond anything else in the market that it is often difficult for job seekers who have not used it to understand. What we do know is that virtually everyone who joins VeterinaryCrossing loves the service and remains a member long after he or she has found a new position. VeterinaryCrossing is just about the most revolutionary job-search tool ever.

You have the right to decide which jobs are relevant to you.

First of all, we do not charge employers to post listings. Posting jobs on our site is free. Not charging employers to post jobs means we can show you every single job in the market and you do not have to look in multiple places to find a job. In addition, we scan employer websites for jobs, and this allows us to even show you jobs that are not advertised. No one else goes to these lengths to show you all the jobs. We are serious when we say we exist for the benefit of the job seeker. We have a staff of hundreds of people whose job is to show you every single veterinary job in the world. There is no company or website on earth that is more committed to this, and we mean business.

Most websites charge employers upwards of $400 to post a single position. Accordingly, most employers never post all of their available positions on major job boards. If you are among the vast number of job seekers who want to apply for one of these positions, you will probably be out of luck. Our primary goal at VeterinaryCrossing is to show you every single veterinary job available. Why should someone else decide which jobs are relevant and irrelevant for you?

You have the right to find out about real jobs first.

Second, you will not find a lot of recruiter jobs on our job board. We always list jobs that come directly from employers first—before we list jobs submitted by recruiters. Sure, we post recruiter jobs as well, but our priority is and always has been posting jobs that come directly from employers. The reason for this is simple. If you are applying for a job, you generally want to apply directly to the employer—not a recruitment firm.

When you apply to a recruiter, the odds are almost certain that yours is going to be one of hundreds of resumes the recruiter reviews for the position. The recruiter will then submit your resume to the employer, who will have to agree to pay the recruiter a fee equal to approximately 30% of your annual salary if he or she decides to hire you. While recruiters are very valuable when it comes to certain positions you would be unlikely to apply for if employers posted them online, in most instances, you will meet with much more success if you apply directly to the employer. The two main reasons for this are: (1) the employer will be the one deciding if you are a good fit for the job and (2) it will not cost the employer thousands of dollars to hire you.

You have the right to a job board that puts you first.

Third, our emphasis has been and always will be on putting candidates first. Every day, we spend thousands of hours doing research on your behalf to find more jobs and develop programs to find more jobs. Our emphasis has never been on driving revenue by charging recruiters to sift through the resumes of our users. Therefore, you will not find a resume board on VeterinaryCrossing because our efforts are geared toward you and how we can find you the best job. We focus our efforts on calling employers to find out about jobs and discovering new sources of jobs for you, not selling employers access to a resume board. There is a major difference between what we do and what resume boards do.

You have the right to receive superior service if you are willing to pay for it.

Fourth, we are exclusive. The minor fact that we charge a nominal monthly fee for our service greatly limits the pool of people who are likely to join. This is perfectly fine with us and our members. Because we limit our membership, the people who become members of our site are afforded a massive and unsurpassed benefit: they see over 2 million jobs that no one else does, and they get to apply for all jobs on all 100-plus industry-specific Crossing sites that very few (if any) people are applying for. It is not uncommon for people to join VeterinaryCrossing after searching for the right jobs on their own for a long time and, within a few short weeks, receive several job offers.

Many employers have numerous job openings. Most of these openings are not publicized on job boards and, instead, are listed on employers' own websites—or in some cases in small local newspapers or in trade publications with very limited circulation. When you are a member of VeterinaryCrossing, it is as if you have subscribed to hundreds of trade publications and thousands of little newspapers and are reviewing the websites of virtually every employer out there. Without VeterinaryCrossing, a job on an employer website may sit there for months without getting any interest. While it may sound simplistic, you may very well have an extraordinarily good chance of getting hired for a job listed on VeterinaryCrossing due to the fact that the employer has done little, if anything, to publicize the job.

Because VeterinaryCrossing is a membership site, its users have the advantage of being among just a few applicants for any given job. Our membership fees (like those of a country club or other exclusive group) are set high enough to discourage the "riffraff" and only grant access to people who are willing to pay for exclusivity—serious job seekers. There are perks to membership. Things are "quieter," and there are fewer applications for most of the jobs. You are treated differently when you apply for many jobs because there are fewer applications (if any) coming in. You learn about market developments and new jobs long before most other people do. Our entire company is working for you 24 hours a day, six days a week!

Most people are more than happy to be part of the masses and go to large public job boards where they will be competing with perhaps thousands of others for the same jobs. We love this! Our members do not want to be associated with the same types of job seekers that are going to public job boards. There are many people out there who would never consider themselves the sorts of people who would belong to a club like VeterinaryCrossing, and that is fine with us. Our members want to be part of a private job board that puts its members' interests first.

You need to remember that this is your career. By associating yourself with VeterinaryCrossing, you will benefit greatly from the education and market knowledge you get for the minimal membership fee we charge. VeterinaryCrossing is a life-changing website for virtually everyone it touches.
